Creating an artist’s book for display introduces a unique set of challenges. This class will focus on the creation of book structures in which a large portion of the content is visible at once, allowing them to function well in the exhibition context. We will cover variations on single- sheet books; map folds, both historic and contemporary; accordions and their derivatives; and accordion-based album structures. The class is geared towards printmakers and other 2D artists who are interested in creating artist books for display and exhibition. No bookmaking experience required.
