Learning to make prints on glass is easier than you think!
We love the way images can be silk screened on glass to create poetic imagery by layering colors and levels of opacity. We have worked with acclaimed British glass artist, James Cockerill to design this class about the art of silk screening on glass using kiln fired traditional glass enamels. No experience is required but if you already have some silkscreen experience, you will be interested in knowing the subtle differences between printing on paper or fabric and adapting your skills to a transparent surface. The finished and fired result can be mounted in a frame or even rested against a window to dramatic effect.
Liz Shepherd has 20 years of experience teaching printmaking with a focus on silk screen techniques on a wide range of surfaces. Michel L’Huillier brings his many decades of experience teaching stained glass, mosaics and slumped glass to this special format.
In three two-hour sessions, you’ll be introduced to methods creating striking glass images. We will provide instructions to help you choose appropriate imagery (there are a lot of options!). Your projects will be kiln fired and available 2-3 weeks after the last class.
