Learning to make prints on glass is easier than you think! Combining the basics of silkscreen printing and stained glass techniques we can create poetic imagery by layering colors of ink and levels of opacity. During this class you will learn how to silkscreen onto glass with specialty ink that will fuse to the glass after firing. You will then learn to plan & incorporate the silkscreened glass into a larger stained glass piece. The instructor will work closely with each participant’s design and guide them through the execution of a 8” x 10” stained glass piece.

Day 1: Plan stained glass composition; Make template and prepare glass pieces for printing
Day 2: Learn about inkjet transparencies, how screens are prepared, mix specialty glass inks, and print on glass
Day 3: Receive fired glass, Cut and foil stained glass pieces
Day 4: Solder and assemble stained glass pieces

No prior printmaking or stained glass experience is required. Project size will be 8” x 10” (central image approx. 5” x 7”).
Included: use of 1 silkscreen, transparency film, glass, stained glass compatible silkscreen ink, and misc. materials (flux, solder, lead).
