Learn the art of hand papermaking to form your very own sheets of paper! This workshop will cover the basics of making sheets of paper using a mould and deckle box. This contemporary deckle box method provides the best foundation for both controlling the thickness and quality of your paper as well as expanding your papermaking practice with advanced creative techniques later. Whether you want to make sheets for intaglio printing, screen printing, painting, collage, sewing or to jumpstart a new practice in creative handmade paper, you will learn how to fine tune your sheets to meet your needs! Participants can also bring in 100% cotton rag that will be turned into pulp for the second day of the workshop!

This workshop is required in order to take the advanced creative technique papermaking workshops (Pulp Painting and Stencils, Embeddings and Inclusions, or Embossing and Dimensional Paper) or to participate in Papermaking Open Sessions.

Participants will have the opportunity to attend additional “Open Studio” Hours following the workshop to continue their projects.
