2 Saturday sessions
August 15th & 22nd, 11 AM – 5 PM
$300
This two-day workshop is open to beginners as well as anyone who would like to refresh their knowledge of intaglio printmaking. The class will focus on the basics of intaglio printmaking using copper plates, and will also cover some monotype techniques to add color.
The first class will cover applying hard ground to a copper plate and the use of ferric chloride to etch an image into the plate. The second session will cover aquatint techniques, and how to use it to create tonal effects. We will also cover drypoint, and the tools used in intaglio printmaking. In addition, students will be introduced to some monotype techniques that allow adding color in quick and expressive ways. Bring your ideas and drawings and see them transformed into prints. The instructor will work with each student to help them develop their ideas.
*Each student will receive a small copper plate.
