Gel Plate Printing for Collage & Mixed Media
With Deb Drummond

1 days: Saturday
September 13th, 10AM - 3 PM
8 participants maximum
Cost: $125 (All materials included in price)

This workshop is designed for students new to the gel plate as well anyone wanting to explore additional techniques for their art tool box. Gel plate printing is accessible monotype printing process that can be used to build layers in a mono-printing process, create papers for collages and adding other media to their work.

Using a gel printing plate students will learn best ways to apply acrylic paints on the plate using a variety of tools for mark making, stenciling, masking, transfer and resist techniques. And we will explore the addition of other media building onto our monoprint “starts” as a background adding collage and mixed media such as markers, stamps, and other media.

We will explore printing and go on to use the papers we made to create a collage project. This is a fun experimental process that yields unpredictable and exciting results. Gel plates, brayers and paint and other tools will be supplied for use during the workshop. It might be helpful to bring a small sketchbook but it is not necessary. (If you have a favorite gel plate and brayer feel free to bring it along.)
