Creative Printing Strategies for Intaglio Plates

Bring your etching, drypoint, photopolymer, and/or collagraph plates for a weekend of play and discovery. We’ll explore a variety of different printing strategies including ink modifications, a la poupée inking, printing on thin papers, waxing, layering and more! Rather than editioning your intaglio plates this workshop will focus on the myriad different directions you can push an image through creative printing.
The workshop will begin with a sharing of prints and discussion of the plates people bring and different approaches one can take to alter an image through printing. The instructor will work with each artist individually to plan out a series of experiments then demonstrate various approaches to printing. Participants will leave the workshop with a series of varied prints from the same plate and the excitement to continue to ink and print creatively.
