A Chair 5 Ways: Intro To Printmaking & Bookmaking

This 6-session introduction to printmaking will guide participants through some of the main processes of printmaking: relief, intaglio, monoprint, and silkscreen. Participants will be asked to choose one object to focus on for the entirety of the course (it doesn’t have to be a chair!). The first class will be an orientation, and each of the following classes will be centered around a different process. The workshop will follow specific size parameters so that at the end participants will learn how to turn their small series of prints into a book structure.
This workshop is great for beginners looking to learn all about printmaking, or for printmakers looking to get a refresher on different processes while engaging in a project with a small community of other printers.

Processes that will be covered: Relief (Woodcut), Intaglio (Drypoint), Monoprint, and Silkscreen working with 6x6 images.
The Book will be a hinged structure with frames that hold each print.
