Making the Book Artist’s Toolbox
With Alice Stanne
2 Days: Thurs & Fri
July 16th & 17th, 10AM - 4PM
6 participants maximum
Cost: $265
Over the course of this two day workshop you will learn all the basic components for box building, using the familiar materials of book board and paper. We will go over the process for assembling and wrapping the container, with the practical application of making a small tool box. In this craft attentive workshop we will focus on modular techniques that are adaptable for future box making projects.
The first day we will build the framing: starting with the basic tray, we will build up the box to include a matchbox drawer and an open top tray for additional storage. On the second day we will wrap and enclose it all with a clamshell finish. You will be able to personalize your box with an assortment of decorative and practical flourishes.
Materials will be provided to make the box, and hand tools are available to borrow if you do not have your own.
